Dr. Paul Gascoine
Dr. Paul Gascoine has been at Smiths Detection for more than 15 years. In this time he has been involved with a number of bio detection projects for both UK and foreign governments.His current role is to support ongoing bio detection programmes but also scouting for new bio technologies which may be of use for Smiths Detection. Some of these candidate technologies are tested in our Watford lab using some ‘simulant samples’ to determine performance.
He also use his expertise writing some of the technical sections for relevant bids and proposals. Prior to this he was at Amersham International (now GE healthcare) working on immunoassays for HIV and hepatitis. HeI started his career with a PhD in biochemistry at the University of London followed by several post docs working on haemostasis and fibrinolysis.
